All of the minor characters play a role in the major characters life. Some more than others but without each one of the minor characters, the major characters lives would be different. They all play a role in this story and add something new and different. They influence their lives, conversations, and they person they major characters are. Exactly...but more specific explanations are needed.
THINGS I DISAGREE WITH
One decision that I do not agree with is that Corrie was in charge of preparing the chemicals for Tante Jans diabetes. The process was very tricky and everything had to be perfect. Though Corrie ended up doing a good job, I think the doctor should have been in charge of doing something that will tell you life or death pretty much.
Another decision I do not agree with is how Karel's parents would only let him marry somone his parents want and approve of. "You don't know Karel's family. They've wanted one thing since he was a small child. They've sacrificed for it, planned for it, built their whole lives around it. Karel is to..'marry well' is the way I think they put it," said Corries brother, Willem. I think this is very wrong. Everyone should be able to choose who they marry. Marriage is not an image but is when you love someone so it is ridiculous of his parents to be so concerned about how his son will look to others.
I also disagree with Betsie's and Corrie's decision to never marry. Just because Betsie cannot have children doesn't really mean she should make a final decision to never marry because marriage isn't just about having kids. Also when Karel was getting married, Corrie made a final choice that she would never marry because she believed he was the only one. I just don't think it is right to make such a big decision to quickly and never change your mind. Maybe if they kept the option and idea open they would have found someone they would want to marry.
This story changes my thinking. I can see that Corrie and Betsie had a hard life already. They lost a lot of loved one when they were fairly young and had to work a lot around the house and at the watch shop. They also stayed positive and you can tell have a good heart. This story makes me realize how tough lives can be but that didn't stop their family from continuing to give others more and helping them in their time of need even when they were going through really tough times. Their family is fulled of great role models who put their lives before others no matter what they are going through. They are also very faithful and when they are looking for guidance and answers they look and pray to God. They are great examples of living a faithful and selfless life.
Absolutely!! I also think that knowing this really happened and Corrie ten Boom survived this makes me feel so blessed that I did not have to live through this time in history and not in Germany or Poland.
